Let’s face it — we all want to do something meaningful in life. This can come in the form of making a positive impact on others, contributing to society, or even a goal as lofty as saving the planet. Keith Leonard, a father of three, wants it all.
That’s why he decided to join The Solar Generation™ with Horizon PWR. As an Energy Consultant, he educates homeowners about the benefits of going solar and guides them through the process from start to finish. It’s clear that he’s giving the world some good energy — in more ways than one.

HP: So you want to help save the planet. How are you living up to this goal?

KL: At Horizon PWR, we’re providing real solutions to real problems. The benefits of a solar-powered home go beyond protection from rising energy costs. We’re empowering people to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. Together, we’re generating clean, renewable energy that will power generations to come.

HP: With all of the upsides of going solar, why do you believe some people are still hesitant?

KL: Solar has come a long way. I think some reluctance is due to a general lack of awareness. Take, for instance, your typical electric bill. Many people would be surprised to know that they’re paying not just for their energy use, but for delivery costs incurred by their utility company. I don’t think anyone deep down wants to hurt the environment; they may just not be aware of the logical reasons for making the transition to solar, as well as the incentives that are available to them to make a change.

HP: What do you love most about your career?

KL: I enjoy being part of something that is bigger than myself. I’m part of a movement that helps the environment, and I’m getting others to join me. When I go home, I feel like I had fun all day. Don’t get me wrong, I love being a dad, but my blood pressure is a lot lower at work than when I’m at home [laughing].

HP: You became one of Horizon PWR’s first team members. What inspired this?

KL: I was already working in the solar industry, so for me, it was a lateral move. What stood out about Horizon PWR was the ability to grow and advance within the company. I saw that as a huge opportunity. There is a really strong core here — we really are a team of individuals who care about one another and are working towards a common goal. We all want to make a positive impact on people and the planet.

HP: What’s a typical day in the life of Keith Leonard like?

KL: I get up around 7:30 am. That’s usually when one of my kids wakes me up. I make them breakfast and a cup of coffee for myself. I head out at around 9:00 am and meet with my team to go over goals and objectives. I then go out to any scheduled appointments I may have and also check up on my existing customers to make sure their experiences are going well. I then meet up again with my team, occasionally over some tacos. To end off my day, I head home and spend time with my family.

HP: What’s next for you at Horizon PWR?

KL: I plan to be here for a very long time. One of the best things is the fact that we’re still growing. I’m actually trying to duplicate myself — finding other individuals who will take on leadership roles so that we can help more people.

HP: You’re about to go solar yourself, right?

KL: Absolutely. My home, unfortunately, isn’t south-facing — which is the optimal orientation for solar panels. So we’re considering a ground-mounted system. I’m looking forward to taking advantage of the Massachusetts ASRAC program and the exclusive purchase price available to Horizon PWR team members.
